Yellow-green color dominates in the City Palace Ismahayana Hedgehogs, West Kalimantan. Complex of wooden buildings that looked deserted, no residents let alone visitors. Though not difficult to find this palace, located on one side of the main street urchins City.
I visited this palace on Wednesday (10/04/2013), together with Women Across Borneo expedition team before traveling to Indonesia-Malaysia border. Local residents named Didik that guide us. It was he who summoned caretaker Ismahayana palace that opened the door for us.
"It is the oldest kingdom in West Kalimantan, around since the 14th century," said Didik.
Shortly thereafter came the gatekeeper. His name is Gusti Mahidin (38), a father who is very friendly and smiling. He opened the door and ushered us Ismahayana palace entrance.
The living room is divided into two parts: the left and right. The photos and a brief explanation about the history of the Kingdom Ismahayana plastered on the walls. Until this point, my first impression of the palace Ismahayana is simple. Building of timber purchases (typical Borneo ironwood) blends nicely with the simple living room.
But once you enter into the living room, the impression was immediately changed. Elegance radiates from the glittering throne because of the element gold, diamonds, and precious stones. These objects exist in the chair, curtains, jars, until the display wall. Exposed to sunlight gleaming from the windows.
Who ever the fancy throne? Raden is Ismahayana, the first king who was the grandson of one of the king of Majapahit. The last king named Prince Ratu Gusti Abdul Hamid. He died in 1943, were slaughtered by Japanese soldiers in the event of Mandor.
In the king's bedroom, I caught a similar impression. Although green-yellow wooden building looks simple, the curtains surrounding the bed is also studded with many precious stones. King clothing on display there, embroidered with gold thread.
Curious, I asked Mr. Gusti Mahidin. With a smile, he replied sure.
"It's City of Diamonds. Society hedgehog was used for diamonds and gold in the river there, from the beginning until now," he said.
After driving around and returned to the outdoor patio, I asked Didik. The answer is similar to Mr. Gusti Mahidin.
"Residents here many diamond panning. Too much gold, but it's the most valuable diamond. A diamond the size of green beans that can be up to Rp 20 million if sold," he said.
I then concluded, wonder palace Ismahayana abundant precious stones. They mendulangnya of Porcupine River upstream. Not many people know this palace full of treasure. I then asked Mr. Gusti Mahidin, what he is not afraid of no goods were stolen from the palace?
"It is not, people around here are still dealing with the blood (the Kingdom) Ismahayana. Nobody dared, all also appreciate the history," he said proudly.
