We were with a group of other journalists visited Margaret River on Monday (1/7) at around 10:30 local time. Heading into here, from Perth City to the south about 1.5 hours. In this area there are 60 wineries to choose from for the visit.

His entourage entered the estate and winery Wilyabrup Metricup Road, Margaret River. We go straight into the restaurant for lunch, then tasting white wine (white wine) and red wine (red wine). Entourage were greeted by Function Sales Manager Sandalford Wines, Elizabeth Hvalgaard.

After lunch and a wine tasting, the group was introduced by Daniel McCarthy Lopez. He was one of the employees who drove us around to see the process of making wine.

Daniel explains, Sandalford Wines is an old company that was founded in 1840. The company initially had a plantation and refinery in the Swan Valley, approximately 22 acres in size, and have a license to Queen Victoria. Wineries is run by John Septimus Roe.

After running hundreds of years, also developed at Sandalford Margaret River. Since 1970 the region is known as the 'Jewel in the Crown'. Sandalford has 102 acres of land and 280 acres of grapes drying wineries including wine processing plant.

"Many grape varieties here. Including Wine for Chardonnay, Riesling, Verdelho, Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon," said Daniel.

According to Daniel, although production of Margaret River less than 1% of Australian wines, high quality wine here. Sandalford produces more than 15% in the State Kangaroo premium wines, especially Cabernet her several times won international awards.

Daniel also took the group into the winery, a wine-making place. He explained that there are differences in the processing of grapes. Red wine is made from the best red wine, as well as white wine made from white grapes best.

"All separated. Permentasinya process is also different. Pemeresan process for red wine with temperatures between 22-26 degrees Celsius for 7-10 days. For white wine, wine squeezed with temperatures 12-16 degrees Celsius for 14-21 days," he said, pointing drums containing wine and stainless steel tanks.

Having both types of wine is squeezed, immediately entered the tank or drum to ferment. There are several advanced processes to be red or white wine.

"To produce good wine fermentation process at least a year, plus a year saved after bottled. Least two years you will savor the taste of a good wine," said Daniel.

So even in the Swan Valley, which produces several types of wine Verdelho, Shiraz, and Cabernet in the country. Swan Valley has some of the best wineries in Western Australia. However, due to the tropical climate in the Swan Valley, many wine producers to leave the area so many years wine production also fell.

But with Margaret River, Swan Valley still be one of the most authentic wine production in Western Australia. Quite often travelers planning a second trip to this place to enjoy the weekend and taste the local wine.
